About OIAT

DSA Monitor is an initiative of the Austrian Institute for Applied Telecommunications (OIAT) - an independent, non-profit institute that has worked to make the digital world safer since 1997.

OIAT promotes the competent, safe and responsible use of digital media, helping people and organisations take advantage of the digital world while protecting them from its risks. Through initiatives such as Saferinternet.at (opens in new tab), Watchlist Internet (opens in new tab), Internet Ombudsstelle (opens in new tab) and digitale Senior:innen (opens in new tab), we stay in direct contact with users - a proximity that lets us see emerging digital risks early. OIAT is also a certified Trusted Flagger under the Digital Services Act, with privileged reporting channels to major platforms.

About DSA Monitor

DSA Monitor is a knowledge and analysis hub for the Digital Services Act. We conduct independent research into how platforms regulated by the DSA handle illegal content and systemic risks - turning problems that are widely known but hard to grasp into documented, evidence-based findings.

Each report is designed to be usable for advocacy bodies, researchers, and enforcement bodies of the DSA alike. We connect our findings to the relevant obligations of the DSA and prepare them so the evidence can feed into risk assessments, inquiries, advocacy work and regulatory action. Alongside the reports, we equip fellow Trusted Flaggers and civil-society organisations with a practical toolkit of tools, templates and curated resources.
